LAT Type Gellan Gum (also know as Gelrite or Phytagel ) has replaced Agar Agar for vitro plants productions in PTC Plant Growing Gels media use, as a more transparent and stable gelling agent.

The appearance of LAT gellan gum is white floating fine powder. LAT Gellan Gum is for Plant Growing Gels, as well as Cell Tissue Culture Media. It could be used as perfect replacement of Agar Agar , or combined with agar is also a good solution for Tissue Culture Media application.

The transparency of LAT Type Gellan Gum Gels and Solution could be 90% and is much better than Agar Products.

The Gel. Strength of LAT Type Gellan Gum could be 400g/cm2 – 1300g/cm2 subject to different application conditions.

Typical Dosage: Regular recommended dosage is 0.015%-0.4% subject to different application.

Gellan gum is used as gelling agent in plant cell culture on Petri dishes, as it provides a very clear gel, facilitating light microscopical analyses of the cells and tissues. Although advertised as being inert, experiments with the moss Physcomitrella patens have shown that choice of the gelling agent – agar or Gelrite – does influence phytohormone sensitivity of the plant cell culture.
